Sugar soliton- side

This is a rendering of the sculpture Soliton by Bathsheba Grossman (used by permission), as output by the CandyFab 4000: a three-dimensional form made out of pure sugar. In order to make the thin beams stronger, we fused the layers of sugar "extra good," by making the pixels large and hot. That rounded out the square corners and made the melted sugar a rather dark caramel. In this view you can see the printing layers from the side. Related blog entry is here.
